While many candles on the market use petroleum-based ingredients like paraffin, these candles are made solely from 100% plant-based materials such as haze (pronounced ha-zeh) wax, which has been used as a raw material for traditional Japanese candles. Haze wax candles, derived from the Japanese wax tree, are virtually scentless, produce minimal soot, and are known for their stability and resistance to dripping.

One unique feature of Japanese candles is their adjustability in burn time based on their thickness and length, allowing for candles of various durations similar to an hourglass.
