This is my one of the favorite Confectionery store in Kyoto called "Demachi Futaba".
One of their popular cakes was Daifuku mochi. Wrapped with Shiga sweet cakes made from glutinous rice, the contents inside are mixed with red beans from Furano, in Hokkaido and red bean paste from Tokachi, in Hokkaido. That is "Demachi Futaba" 's flagship product, well-known "Mame-mochi".
Demachi Futaba's famous confectionery is not limited to "Demachi Futaba". In spring, the salted Oshima cherry leaves and Domyoji are exquisite "Sakuramochi" and "Kashiwamochi" where you can enjoy the fresh green scent of Kashiwamochi. In summer, Kyoto's Japanese sweet "Minatsuki" to pray for evil spirits. And, "Kuzumanju" is characterized by its smooth texture and refreshing sweetness.
In autumn, "Kurimochi" is a wrapping of new chestnuts sent directly from the production area.
In winter, "small rice cake/cut rice cake" is made from glutinous rice.
Japanese sweets are prepared for each season in "Demachi Futaba".
The first Sanjiro Kuromoto, who came to this area from Ishikawa Prefecture, wanted to take root in his hometown of sweet rice cakes in Kyoto and started business as "Demachi Futaba" in 1899 (Meiji 32).
Currently, Mr Heiichi is the third generation of "Demachi Futaba" and it is about to inherit to the next generation soon.
While preserving tradition, he is also focusing on making more products. I am looking forward to the future development of "Demachi Futaba".
